My style shifts and flows with my mood and the world around me. I paint the visions which I cannot translate into words, the ideas which exist in silence and color. The past decade finds me returning somewhat to my origins in watercolor, as I am captivated by effects of multiple washes, layers and glazes in the acrylic medium. Lately, the gods, stars and elements have been coming to me asking to be painted, so you’ll see quite a few mystical themes in my more recent works.
I went to Colorado College and Smith College and studied art in both places. I have traveled extensively through the world, visiting many countries in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, and traveling across the United States by car several times. I grew up in a home with spiritual artwork acquired from around the globe by my mother (who also paints) on her work travels, so was influenced by just about every kind of art you can imagine. I began working with watercolors when I was 6, and have been painting ever since, transitioning to oils in high school and then acrylics in the last decade as small children underfoot demanded. I was raised in a Roman Catholic/Buddhist environment, and am a Reiki Master and Shamanic Practitioner.
